It was a match made in…church.

John Battaglia and Barry Madel were introduced to each other by a mutual friend at their church in Woodstock, GA, Sojourn Church.

John had a successful home inspection business and had always wanted to start and grow a business outside of that space, but didn’t have the time or idea that made him want to proceed.

Barry had recently left his job and was networking with his private equity friends to do a startup in the home services sector, but didn’t have enough industry knowledge (not to mention an infrastructure) to start up easily.

The two met, talked a number of times, iterated and then settled on a business model:  A subscription home maintenance business that focused on safety, health, convenience and investment protection.  And MAYNT was born!

Our team

John Battaglia


John grew up in a family of tradespeople.  The oldest of 10 kids, his 7 brothers are all contractors, plumbers, and tradesmen in the Atlanta area.  

An entrepreneur at heart, John started multiple businesses and is the owner of At Ease Inspections, a respected residential, environmental, and commercial inspection company that serves North Georgia.  

John also runs a real estate school, is a building code instructor for the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors (GAHI), and a former code instructor for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA).  

John is married to Taylor, a Certified Nurse MidWife and they have four kids.

Barry Madel


Barry has a long history of P&L leadership roles with privately held, private-equity and publicly-held companies.  He enjoys the complexity and ambiguity in business and absolutely loves the challenges of growing and positioning MAYNT as the preferred provider of scheduled home maintenance services.  He is also excited about collaborating with John to leverage both of their strengths and learn from each other.

Barry and his wife, Joyce, are empty nesters and live in Woodstock.  Together, they have eight children.

Great at what we do

We exist to serve our customers well.  We must stay in our lane and remember that we were retained to apply our knowledge in order to help keep a house well-maintained.

Appliances change.  HVAC systems are updated.  Product recalls can affect how things work and lower our customers cost to repair.  We need to stay on top of this and advocate well for our customers.

In those instances where our certified home inspectors find problems requiring attention in your home, we aren’t going to be the ones doing the work…so we will take an impartial view of the need to repair something.

If we do well, you will benefit.  If we cut corners or take shortcuts, time has a funny way of pointing that out.

We want to serve our customers honestly and well…and with integrity.
